چکیده
Ünlü Dünya Sistemleri teorisyeni Imanuel Wallerstein’ın etkilerini taşımakla birlikte Abu-Lughod, Avrupa Hegemonyasından Önce: 1250-1350 Arasında Sistemi isimli eseriyle modern dünya ekonomisinin kökenlerini 16. yüzyılda değil, 13. yüzyıla dayandığını ortaya koyarak verili kabul gören açıklamaları eleştiriye tutmaktadır. Eser içerisinde pek çok sorunun cevabını arayan yazar, başta ekonomisin arayabilir miyiz, bu sistem nasıl kurulmuş ve çözülmüştür, bir sistemdi, noktada ilk sistemi olarak adlandırabilir miyiz gibi soruları cevaplandırma arayışındadır. Ayrıca Modern sistemine Batı’nın neden hâkim olduğunun vermeye çalışmaktadır.
